Woodworking Production is a skill-level course in a shop setting focused on safety and craftsmanship. Students will gain knowledge and experience in material identification and selection, planning and designing, layout, as well as with various hand and power tools. Safety will be a main emphasis, as students participate in school-driven projects as well as projects of their own selection. Craftsmanship in areas such as accuracy, fit and finish, and durability will be advanced throughout the course. Students will gain knowledge in the selection and use of adhesives, fasteners and finishes, as well as in various joining techniques. Careers in woodworking will be considered, as well as traits and habits valuable in maintaining employment and achieving job satisfaction.
