Course Description: A skill-level course offering students experience in shielded metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), oxyacetylene welding and cutting, and plasma arc cutting. Safe working practices are taught and required, and equipment setup and maintenance are stressed. Topics include welding symbol and print reading, material selection, soldering and brazing, metallurgy and welding careers. Students will use the processes mentioned to perform selected weld joints from among flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Manufacturing techniques and production setups will be discussed.   Course Description: Further practice and skill refinement are available to Welding I students who may be considering a welding career, further training, or who just wish to become more proficient welders. Projects will involve more complex processes and techniques from among oxyacetylene welding and cutting, shielded metallic arc welding (SMAW), gas mental arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and plasma arc cutting. Weld testing and print reading will be performed. Welding as a career will be explored, along with the habits, attitudes and characteristics that help in gaining and keeping a job.   Course description: This program offers individualized training to any student who feels a desire to explore or pursue a specialized interest in any particular aspect of welding. The course work is on a contractual basis as arranged between student and instructor. Student meets during regular classes without being required to fulfill all requirements of those classes, yet adhering to all safety guidelines. Specialized instruction might be in specific welding processes, print reading, metallurgy, or any related area. Consent of the counselor, parents and instructor is required.
